Read My Lips: Illamasqua Obey + Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Pop
After I saw Lisa Eldridge use Illamasqua "Obey" in her video documenting a "modern take on 60's peachy makeup" I. had. to. have. it. If you don't watch Lisa's videos, you're missing out on so many amazing, insightful tutorials from a very successful veteran makeup artist. I could sit and watch her videos for hours, and so what if I do!?! This is a judgement free zone, Mom! Seesh. I applied it very lightly and made it a little more wearable with a thin layer of Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in "Pop." This gloss is one of my favorites -- despite the fact that I, personally, am not a true lip gloss fan. Gotta give credit where credit is due!
In the flesh I'd say that this lip appears a little more chalky and bright, but barely. It really depends on your application with this lipstick, as it can be used in a variety of ways for different effects.
Glamour Purse, by Essie, is a nice light brown, but buildable, shade from their winter collection (or as Essie calls it "an alluring almond taupe") that I wore ages ago and forgot about the pictures -- definitely not a color fit for the first week of spring! I didn't love the color completely, but it was nice. Like most all Essie polishes, it was a great quality and consistency and a total breeze to apply. But really, I can be bothered to talk about brown right now because Spring has sprung I can't WAIT to apply my two favorite polishes in the world -- Essie's Tart Deco and Turquoise and Caicos.
Red hair is bold. It's out there. It's intense. And... it's scary. I have always had an interest in going red, but have feared it. I shouldn't dread the red, it's in my genes -- my mom and countless family members are red heads! Surprisingly, my boyfriend has even requested I go red at some point in my hairventure. After discovering the hair, the myth, the legend... that is Taylor Tomasi Hill's locks, I can honestly say I WANT TO GO RED ASAP. I want this EXACT shade. And I want it now. My "Hairspiration" board on Pinterest is overflowing with pictures of TTH (and also pictures of amazing afros which I can never have because I am god. damned. white!). Let's just take a moment, relax, and fawn over the beauty that is TTH's hair color (the location of which she gets this color from remains her best kept secret):
The 4th was my Mom's 49th birthday and we spent a beautiful day at the Alameda Point Antiques Fair. I got a vintage fur coat (I'll post it soon!) and my mom bought a nice vintage black leather chair (which I plan to steal when I move back to CA oh so soon). Win win!
In honor of the impending Spring season and the mild, mild winter on the East Coast this year, I give you Essie's Lilacism. This gorgeous, purple pastel was a dream to apply and lasted for days (though not a whole week) before chipping at all. Looks quite nice with pale skin, thankfully -- and from pictures online I can see it looks great with tan skin too. Can't wait to wear this later in the season!
For reference, here is what the milky purple color looks like in the sun.
