WANT: 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel

You know that story your parents used to read you, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie? It's a phrase that has stuck with me my whole life and I find myself saying it quite often... though mostly in a bratty I told you so sort of way to my boyfriend. Well, I am writing a new version entitled, If You Give a Chelsea a Designer Bag. It explores the downward spiral of a post grad upon obtaining her first designer bag, Alexander Wang's Rocco Duffle, and how that one fateful purchase was the proverbial blood in the water for this great white (bag) shark (Side Note: Don't you think it's a little racist to the other sharks to call them Great White Sharks, I mean.. jeez...). Enough of my attempts at Amelia Bedelia-esque humor (Wow, I'm really pulling out the children's book references in this post), I'm obsessed with the 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli.
[ black with silver hardware / aubergine with black hardware / black with black hardware ]

This bag is everything -- it's sexy and feminine, but masculine at the same time; it's structured and formal, but slouchy and cool; and it's expensive as f@!* looking, but with a price tag under $900. It's the Celine Luggage Tote for the everyday working girl (so long as this "working girl" I allude to is, like, REALLY working a lot at a REALLY high paying job).

I've drooled over this bag in the flesh and I don't recommend anyone else do that because you will not be able to get the Pashli out of your mind. It's not crazy heavy (newer models come with a detachable shoulder strap), the construction is gorgeous (though only one interior pocket), and the shape is versatile (zips can be worn up or down for a different look). The three pictured above are the sexiest of the sexy, in my opinion: The black with silver hardware is the most adaptable and everyday; the aubergine is the trendiest, for the buyer who's not afraid of a designer bag in a color other than black (I am not one of those daring individuals); and the black on black is the coolest, most modern and sexy feeling one to me.

I keep calling this bag sexy, is this weird for anyone? Is there some sort of -philia or -ism I should be diagnosed with? Crack open your DSM-IV and get back to me on that one. If you need me, I'll be the girl drooling and creepily stroking the bag wall at Barneys Co-Op.

What I Wore: 9.26.12

I just can't get enough of my Dolce Vita Jax boots and this oversized Zara sweater... so excuse me for this outfit looking so similar to this one
I  must admit, I am still a little scarred from Kate in the Lizzie McGuire movie making such a big stink about "outfit repeating." Bitch.
P.S. Where Are They Now Fun Fact: Miranda -- excuse me, Lalaine -- was addicted to meth.
P.P.S. Gordo, if you're out there, give me a call.

OPI - Brisbane Bronze

OPI's Brisbane Bronze is one of my favorite nail colors. It looks quite awful (in my opinion) in the first image below, but thankfully you can see its beauty in the second image. It's a gorgeous rusty/bronze/copper color and wears very well, as most OPI polishes do. I love a shiny metallic polish and this one is a go-to in both the summer and fall for me.

Knock it Off: Acne Pistol Boot vs. Dolce Vita Joust and Jax Boots

I couldn't resist doing a side-by-side to truly show how Dolce Vita is making some amazingly accurate knock offs of the ultra-hip, but ultra-expensive Acne Pistol boot. There are tons of similar knock offs out there -- the Topshop Ambush, Steve Madden PARADOXX, and bp. Trolley to name a few -- but the Dolce Vita Jax and Joust are the most accurate in my opinion (Side Note: My mom owns a pair of the PARADOXX and I much prefer the Jax to them.).

I own the Jax boot in three colors (a little excessive, perhaps) and I could not recommend them enough -- they truly are some of the most comfortable shoes that I own. I managed to get them from Bluefly (sold out now) and MYHABIT (months back) for about $80 a pair, which is a far departure from the Pistol's retail price of ~$570. I've never tried on the Joust and can't rationalize buying it just for the brown tassel, because how much does it really differ from the Black Jax that I already own, but this one would be perfect for someone who loves the contrasting tassel the Pistol has in certain styles.

Cons? The Dolce Vita boots are not offered in a smooth leather. I really wish they were since suede is so easily damaged, but that's my only qualm!

All I can say is... don't blow your budget on the Pistol with so many more affordable options!

Are you sick of me talking about these damn boots?!? This is the last post focused on them, I swear!

WANT: Nordstrom BP. Trolley Ankle Boot

I have an insatiable obsession with ankle boots at the moment. I saw the Trolley Ankle Boot on Nordstrom's site today and naturally fell in love. I blame the Dolce Vita Jax boot. It's a gateway boot. I'm going to move on to harder, more expensive boots -- the kind of boots that need to be smuggled into the country. Before I know it I'm going to be found in a dirty gutter, overdosed on fabulous. She. was. so. young.

To Note: they look quite similar to a certain Topshop Ambush boot that I missed out on months back.
(but minus the seam on the front, so even better!)

Color Club x Birchbox - Put a Pin in it

I didn't get this Color Club x Birchbox collab polish in my September Birchbox, but I used some of my handy Birchbox points to nab it after I saw it in various box videos. It's not as rose gold as I thought it would turn out, but is nevertheless very pretty and the light pink shimmer goes well with my skin tone. I only noticed chips around the tops of my most used fingers after a few days wear, but I simply clipped my nails and it was like having a fresh polish job! Does anyone else do that? My lazy girl tip to making your manicure last longer. Hm... what else to say.... ah yes, it was very easy to apply -- believe it or not, this is just one coat!

Ever since I started eating healthier, taking supplements, and drinkin' green juice every morning my nails have been CRAZY strong and growing incredibly fast. I don't even like to keep my nails long, but I've been growing them out more of curiosity than anything. While they look nice, they are really annoying -- it's harder to type on my iPhone and computer, foundation I'm trying to get out of sample pots gets stuck under them (eckkk!), I feel paranoid they are going to break, etc... On the other hand, my dog seems to be enjoying get scratched by them. Sorry Dex, I'm cutting em!

How do you wear your nails -- long.. short.. fake?

What I Wore: 8.31.12

This outfit had all kinds of stuff going on behind scenes with it. I had my mind set on wearing the black Jax and nothing would stop me; not even my lack of a black skirt or tights, which were pretty much crucial pieces for the look I'd developed in my head. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Those tights were a back-of-the-drawer-find in my mom's dresser and have seen better days -- so many pills all over them. ANDD would you believe that the skirt I'm wearing is actually an old American Apparel cropped halter top? Why I owned that to begin with I'm not sure, but I wrapped the halter ties around my waist like a belt and BLAM! Changin' the blog name to MacGuyver Wears!

It didn't end there. Would you also believe my hair is only half done because I blew up the electrical outlet in the bathroom? I haven't seen that many sparks since my first date with Ryan, ba doom cha. Just kidding, it wasn't that magical of a first date. Sorry Ry! If you want to hear me talking about this incident (and hear me butcher the pronunciation of "joie" again and again), check out the video version of this OOTD on my YouTube channel, ChelseaWears.

Another month, another Favorites video... and Empties too!

What were your favorite beauty products this month?

What I Wore: 8.30.12

This outfit incorporates two of my very favorite purchases of late, and possibly of the whole year! My giant Zara sweater and my Dolce Vita "Jax" boots are some of the most comfortable things I've got in my closet (excluding pajamas and harem pants!) and I cannot imagine my wardrobe without them. The sweater has never been available online, and I would know because I literally obsessively scan the entirety of Zara's website once a day. Psycho! I bought it in the San Francisco location in mid-August (for ~$90) and it was still on the sales floor as of mid-September. I featured it in a haul video and it sounds like people were able to track it down at their local Zaras across various states and countries, so good luck if you've caught the oversized knitwear bug!

As for the "Jax," well... I just can't say anything more about them besides they are the best and you need them and you WILL NOT regret it. I cannot stop wearing them. Literally. I sleep in them. Okay, that's a lie. Bygones. More looks with the boots are soon to be posted (in the lighter "sand" color, to boot -- pun intended?), so check back! As per usual, this outfit was also featured in an outfit video on my YouTube channel, ChelseaWears, if you'd prefer me awkwardly standing in my childhood bedroom mumbling through a temporary fever.

Sweater: Zara
Shirt: Urban Outfitters

My mom and brother wanted to get in on the action too...

Mom's Sandals: Nordstom
(Of course, I picked them out for her!)

Sean's Sneakers: Buffalo Exchange
(Yet again, another pick of mine! I bought these for him for his birthday gift a few years ago.)

Andddd I got photobombed by my brother. This organic bamboo ensamble is not Chelsea approved!
