OPI - You Don't Know Jacques!

10.05.2011

I had heard lots of great things about this polish color so I picked it up recently, but I was not too blown away by OPI's You Don't Know Jacques! It's a taupe-y brownish color and will look nice in my Fall color palette. It's definitely showing up much darker in my photos because the nails aren't in the sun with this rainy, dreary weather. Overall I like it, but I don't love it. I did a pretty crappy application because I was all curled up ready to go to bed Sunday night, and then I realized that I didn't have any nail polish on for the week. No way José -- I vow to rock a color each week and I will keep that promise! Perhaps the only New Year's Resolution-esque promise I've ever made and kept so far? Two coats were a little opaque in places so I used three coats on some nails. Chipped a tiny bit (hence all pictures are of my left hand), but probably just because I put it on in a rush. Have you ever tried this polish? What do you think?

  1. It's not bad. I think it would grow on me over time. I'm not a big fan of brown nail polish to begin with though. This is random, but how do you feel about yellow nail polish? Like bright taxi-cab yellow...

  2. I have a Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear that is YELLLLLOWWW and it was a little hard to get used to the first day I wore it, but I warmed up to it and I like it even more when I look back at pictures where I can see my hands. I had to be really careful about the color of the clothes I wore with it though! Mostly stuck to black that week I think, haha. Did you recently pick one up?

  3. I actually recently found it under my couch. I think it was a party favor at some point. It's pretty old, I think, but the consistency is still good, which makes me wonder what they put in this stuff. It's Revlon Street Wear #14 Taxi. I'll have to try it on when it gets a little bit colder and I can wear it with my black coat.

  4. haha, what a great find. I don't even want to look under my couch for fear of what I would find. I googled the color, it REALLY looks exactly like the color of a taxi, haha. Let me know how it works when you try it!
