Red Carpet: Oscars 2012

There were some amazing fashions on the red carpet this year. I had so much fun watching the pre-show carpet and believe it or not, I really liked some looks that were on random people in the background of the red carpet footage too -- they were either guests of the actually famous people or people with headsets working the event. Whodathunk? Obviously I'll never find pictures of them too, so enjoy my favorite celebrity looks from the Oscar carpet!

White was having a moment on the carpet this year. Mila Jovovich was one of the first to arrive on the pre-show and looked so glamorous in this 2009 Elie Saab gown. Gwyneth Paltrow rocked a Tom Ford CAPE! So let's just take a moment to digest that. Amazing. I really loved her ensemble, with and without cape -- but I could have done without the low/loose ponytail. Octavia Spencer looked absolutely beautiful in this beaded Tadashi Shoji gown and it worked every inch of her body just right. Loved it! Lastly, ahh... Rooney Mara in Givenchy couture. She kind of came off like a twat in the red carpet interviews that I saw, but that can't stop me from admiring this structural masterpiece! It's hard to say because there were so many gorgeous gowns, but Rooney's getup might be my overall favorite.

I loved Viola Davis' Vera Wang gown from the waist up -- I just wasn't feeling the chiffon at the bottom. But I couldn't not include her because she looked absolutely stunning -- I especially loved that she wore her hair natural because I seriously LOVE natural hair. I wish I had it. I've discussed this before though so enough about that. Green just pops off her skin in the most gorgeous way. And I wish I had her skin too. DAMN. Can I skin her and wear her??? It rubs the lotion on its skin. It puts the lotion in the basket. Okay, enough serial killer talk. Back to dresses. Meryl Steep looked gorgeous and sexy in this eco-friendly Lanvin gown. Cougar! Michelle Willaims... what to say about Michelle Williams. I love her style. Remember that yellow gown she wore a few years back? Gorgeous. I'm loving this peplum trend, it appear to be quite flattering for all sorts of body types. It's hard to pick between this Louis Vuitton coral dress or the white Givenchy, but I think what Rooney Mara wore edges this one out for the top spot by the tiniest margin.

Berenice Bejo looked gorgeous in this mint green Elie Saab gown. I am generally not a fan of mint green, but I couldn't get over the beading and cut of the dress. Kristen Wiig is muh gurl. I am in l.o.v.e with her and I thought she looked amazing and true to her own style in this J. Mendel gown. Giuliana, on E!, was all butthurt that she didn't put her hair in an updo because apparently that's a MUST of the Oscars... shut up Giuliana! Of course when Angelina Jolie showed up with her hair down and her leg comically posed out the slit of her dress, no one said anything about her hair. Nevertheless, Kristen looked beautiful and was definitely one of my top looks of the night.

It was hard for me to find a picture that did justice to how great both Jessica Chastain and the Alexander McQueen gown she is wearing looked on the red carpet pre-show because pictures that capture the richness of the dress tend to over saturate her hair color. I really loved the gown -- it was interesting and fresh while at the same time feeling really classic. Nina Garcia was one of the hosts of the ABC pre-show and I really liked her simple Jean Paul Gaultier gown, so just I had to feature it! Keep in mind that the picture washes out all the details, it wasn't too simple! Last, but not least, Tiny Fey looked probably the best I've ever seen her look in this custom Carolina Herrera gown. It fit her perfect and worked wonders for her figure. Gotta love that peplum!

Red Carpet: Grammys 2012

The Grammys were pretty underwhelming fashion-wise, but aren't they always....

[ rihanna in giorgio armani / adele in giorgio armani / corinne bailey rae in christian siriano / gwyneth paltrow in stella mccartney ]

I know, I know... these are all black.... but they were the only ones I really liked!! I was completely in love with Rihanna's whole look. Apparently she collabed with Giorgio Armani on the creation of this gown and damnnn she did a good job. It's simple... but it's. so. perfect. Adele looked beautiful in her custom made Giorgio Armani gown as well. The way the sparkles caught the light on camera was gorgeous. Corinne Bailey Rae looks both cute and sultry in this Christain Siriano number. I am not in TOTAL love with the dress but I appreciated the vertical symmetry of her hair and the ruffles at the bottom of the dress (also I'm just straight up obsessed with her hair and wish I could look like her). Gwyneth Paltrow looked very sexayy in Stella McCartney -- another simple, modern, and sophisticated black dress. Too much black?? NEVER! I know I love Elie Saab, but Katy Perry just had too big of boobs for me to get behind that blue backless Ellie Saab dress.

And can we just have a moment to recognize just how fucking glamorous Adele is:

Red Carpet: SAG Awards 2012

I was pretty underwhelmed by the red carpet at the SAG Awards. In fact, I hated most of what I saw. I only had a couple of dresses that I liked and I even included an ensemble below that I didn't fully love (cough cough, Kristin Wiig) because needed a big change (cough cough, remove the choker!).

Emily Blunt looked absolutely beautiful in this green Oscar de la Renta gown. The color is gorgeous itself, let alone the beautiful slit, cut, and shoulder strap. Amber Heard (who dat?) looked beautiful in Zac Posen -- at first glance I thought she was the love child of Scarlett and Charleze! This is exactly what I expected to see on Rooney Mara (who I wanted to be nominated just for the selfish reason that I wanted to see what she would wear) and it's exactly the type of red carpet dress I would go for if I were a famous lady of mystery. I really liked Tilda Swinton in Lavin and it's a type of dress I have tossed around as a wedding dress idea for the future -- effortless, yet beautiful! Lastly, Kristen Wiig... my dear Kristen Wiig. I love all things Kristen and that Balenciaga gown, but the choker has got. to. go. Don't hold it against me Kristen, can we still be best friends in my head??? But really, the dress is gorgeous and I couldn't take my eyes off her as she walked across the stage to present Bridesmaids with her co-stars. Scorsese. DRINK!

Red Carpet: Golden Globes 2012

I was so excited to watch the Golden Globes red carpet yesterday and though it was quite underwhelming at times, there were still some really beautiful gowns being waddled around in. I love that E! makes the women climb up and down a staircase to reach Seacrest for an interview. All of the poor women in mermaid/fishtail gowns have the hardest time getting up and down, quite comical. Now I try not to be negative but... let's just say for worst dressed: Zooey Deschanel and her manly sideburns -- I know it was a 60's style look, but I think there is a reason that "vintage" look will never come back. Now that I have that off my chest, time for the favorites!

Some of my ultimate favorite colors on the carpet were deep, dark tones of burgundy (I'm looking at you, Viola Davis) and straight up, no fuss black. Mila Kunis looked gorgeous in a Dior gown, but alas, when doesn't she look amazing? Remember that lilac Elie Saab gown last year at the Oscars? Emma Stone in Lanvin was probably my favorite look of the night (the picture doesn't do it justice -- it was far more beautiful on screen and in motion) and Rooney Mara is a close second with her black Nina Ricci gown.

A far departure from the color tone of the previous gowns, light neutrals and nudes were also another  trend on the carpet this award show. I love all things Kristen Wiig so this Bill Blass number was a hit with me, perfectly elegant and simple at the same time. Shailene Woodley's Marchesa gown was incredibly detailed and beautiful, once again... the pictures of it online do not do it justice. Even though Jessica Biel looks like she is dressing for her impending nuptuals (and may or may not have a third boob in the middle of her chest), I really liked this lacey number by Elie Saab. Lastly, Charlize Theron will always look gorgeous in my mind. I think she is just one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood and while this Dior gown would normally be a miss for me... on her, it is just stunning!

Lastly, I have got to show actual color some love. Kelly Osbourne looked paradoxically modern and vintage simultaneously in Zac Posen, which I loved, and Reese Witherspoon looked feminine and sexy in Zac Posen as well. Lastly, Sofia Vergara looked beautiful in this navy Vera Wang gown, though I wish she had some Veronica Lake-esque waves in her hair instead of a boring straight do.

Red Carpet: Oscars 2011

This post is a week late, whoops! I didn't watch the Oscars, but I did scour the web to find pictures of dresses. There were lots of gorgeous dresses, but I am absolutely in love with these gorgeous gowns.

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy (can't believe this made some peoples' worst dressed lists!)

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Haute Couture (So so so so gorgeous!)

Florence Welch in Valentino (Love the lace and vintage feel)

Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier (I've also been obsessed with her wedding designs)

Red Carpet: Golden Globes 2011

The Ladies:

Kathrine Zeta-Jones always looks beautiful but this dress is amazing, amazing, amazing! Love Monique Lhuillier.

Mila Kunis is my girl crush, and she looked gorgeous in this emerald gown.

January Jones looked very sexy! (Ryan thought she looked like a graduation cap tassle, boys...)

Emma Stone looks really good as a blonde and this peachy color Calvin Klein went amazing with the new hair and skin tone.

Claire Danes looked beautiful in this pink halter dress by Calvin Klein, something I wouldn't think I'd normally like. You have to be very delicate to pull off a cut like that, there's a very fine line before you look like a buff American Gladiator!

I don't think this picture does the dress justice, but I could not stop gushing over Melissa Leo's dress during her acceptance speech. I love the glamour of the black (or is it navy?) sparkles mixed with the clean, crisp architectural shoulders.

The Gentlemen:

I've been obsessed with grey suits lately, so I loved Robert Downey Jr. all done up in grey with a red tie and those glasses.

Ryan Gosling looks great in this velvet suit, nice to see something unique on the carpet.

I love skinny ties, clean fitted suits, and facial hair AKA Darren Aronofsky at the Globes

Love navy suits (or at least this looks dark navy on my screen). Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks excellent.

Chris Colfer looks absolutely adorable (and gave a great acceptance speech!).
