What I Wore: 12.24.12

Wore this to a family holiday party and well, let's just say my dad didn't GET my outfit. It's "office girl meets xena warrior princess meets cat lady", duh. It looks ridiculous, and that's what I love about it. Interestingly enough, he thought the necklace was the worst component -- and to think, I was expecting the pants to top his list! Hah! That necklace is my current favorite and was a real steal at Zara, just about $29. Don't be talking trash on my necklace. And I'm not taking any fashion advice from a guy who loves Ireland so much he wears green leather tennis shoes 365 days a year! Humpfh!

This Silence & Noise Boyfriend blazer is a closet necessity and thankfully on sale right now at UO -- oh, you'll thank me.

Zara Watercolor Floral Dress

The Zara sale has been going full force in my local shop for over a month now... something I'm actually annoyed to report. I'm over it Zara, get me new stock!! Please!! I, stupidly, thought I was late to the game and missed the sale when it had only gone on for a few days. Hindsight, man... The dress is sold out from their site, but if your local Zara is still running the sale you just might get lucky (there were tons left in the Philly location in larger sizes as of the end of July).

After meeting up with my boss to discuss book edits a while back (because I'm not a total sack, I freelance), I popped a few streets over to Zara to check out the sale. To my delight, this watercolor-esque dress that I've been eyeing for months was in stock with one left in my size. Fate? Perhaps. (No, definitely not.) I scooped it up, despite a missing back button, and have been obsessed with how it looks under my Silence & Noise (Urban Outfitters) black "Boyfriend Blazer." I wore this to a meeting yesterday and I love how this outfit makes me feel -- somewhat professional, without feeling stiff and cookie cutter.

Silence & Noise Cutaway Shift Dress

I stopped into Urban Outfitters while downtown picking up some MAC lipstick colors from the latest collection "Shop MAC, Cook MAC" (hello... quick sizzle!!) and scooped up an interesting, new dress. This is the Silence & Noise Cutaway Shift Dress, a modern and futuristic feeling little number that I have since fallen in love with. I was incredible attracted to its lines and I had been looking around for an exposed shoulder tops or dress (ones that still have sleeves) for a while to no avail. [Side Note: NeNe is workin' em on the current season of Atlanta Housewives and you know I love me some NeNe.] While I love the loose, potato sack fit of this dress, I am most fond of this dress when paired with a thin belt (I recently picked up a green, braided one from H&M that is perfect). Give the dress a little tug up so that it ever so slightly hangs over the belt and then complete the look with a top knot, black gladiator sandals (or heels -- hey girl hey), a subtle smokey eye, and a bold lip --- werrrkkk.

Coupon Code Alert: UOLOVESU gets you 15% off your order of $100 or more for the next 3 days only!
